Sulfur dioxide measurement made easy
This model features a high-precision piston dosing system, optimizing measurements, and a compact housing, ensuring a small footprint at the workstation. It is also equipped with automatic stirring speed control, a graphical mode generating the tritration curve in real time, PC-readable data storage and a Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) function, enabling users to consult pump calibration data.
Why measure sulfur dioxide SO2?
Antiseptic, effective and antioxidant, it is an indispensable auxiliary for winemakers from the vat to bottling. The total absence of SO₂ is rare. Even in the absence of sulfiting, small doses are formed by fermentation yeast. Its action is multiple: it kills bacteria and germs of wine diseases, protects the aroma and preserves it from too intense oxidation by setting a sufficiently low redox level. EU regulations lay down very precise maximum SO₂ levels for different types of wine:
Dry wines, sugars below 4 g/L
- Reds 160 mg/L (Vins de Pays 25 mg/L)
- Whites and rosés 210 mg/L (Vins de Pays 50 mg/L)
Wines, sugars above 4 g/L
- Red 210 mg/L
- Whites and rosés 260 mg/L
- Derogations for various AOCs to 300 mg/L
- Derogations for AOCs produced with botrytized grapes at 400 mg/L
