HI981033-2

HI981033 is equipped with a pH electrode specially designed for pH measurements in wine, must and grape juice.

Developed using an exclusive HANNA instruments process called CPS (Clogging Prevention System), the electrode consists of a diaphragm (or junction) made of specific, extremely thin, frosted glass, more resistant than ceramic diaphragms. It is protected by a PE gasket, effectively preventing wine from fouling the measuring system. Conventional pH electrodes are usually fitted with ceramic junctions, which are particularly vulnerable
in solid media such as juice and must. When the junction (or diaphragm) becomes clogged, the electrode doesn't work properly and delivers unstable readings. The CPS process ensures a service life up to 20 times longer than that of conventional pH electrodes.

pH measurement complements A.T. information:

  • pH is a good indicator of grape ripeness.
  • At dockside, it enables us to better reason corrective operations and sulfiting.
  • It also enables us to monitor the progress of MLF.
  • pH is used to assess tartaric stability.

Don't forget to combine it with the refractometer HI96816 REFRACTOMETER (16.83 g/L) to assess grape ripeness: there are a number of requirements for determining the harvest date.

Highlights

  • With Bluetooth technology, pairing with a smartphone or tablet via the Hanna Lab app (available iOS and Android) for extended use and measurement storage
  • IP65 waterproof case
  • Open junction (porous-type liquid junction), anti-clogging, recommended for high-accuracy measurements in highly polluting environments, with CPS (Clogging Prevention System) and removable protective gasket
  • Filling electrode: by pulling up the PE gasket, the filling port is accessible for topping up with electrolyte. The ability to refill the electrolyte considerably extends the electrode's service life.
  • Special low-temperature pH-sensitive glass ideal for measurements in samples at cooler temperatures
  • Easy-to-clean glass body
  • Up to 4-point calibration with automatic buffer recognition, quick and easy to perform
  • Automatic temperature compensation for pH measurements
  • Stability and battery charge indicators for safe readings
  • Auto-off after 8 or 60 minutes of non-use
  • Supplied with starter kit, including calibration solutions, cleaning solution and electrode preservative
